Folding seats appear to have atleast two strong points. Firstly, passengers can choose between using a seat allowing more space, for more passengers to be served. By this way, vehicle capacity could to some extent follow and cofront demand during peak hours. Secondly,they increase space flexibility,ex. for suitcases, bikes, wheelchairs.

It is a very useful solution for cities where demand is high and insfrastructure is limited. It also adds on the accessibility level of public transportation vehicles since it allows the transformation of the available space according to the passengers' needs.
